In the Fall of 2004, two UAlbany juniors and one sophomore noticed a distinct absense of fibers from their facial landscape. Instead of simply standing around and waiting for puberty to just happen, these three young men decided to do something: have a stupid contest on a nascent website.

Beginning right before Thanksgiving break, the contest will commence at the end of the Fall Semester. Grand Prize is Shannon Sullivan's stolen lighter, and custody of Rick's cat.

Wednesday, December 8, 2004:
We all gave up on Friday, because we looked like trash. Paul shaved before we could get a picture. The judges are evaluating whether or not that disqualifies him. Pictures, thoughts from the contestants, and winners coming soon.
Saturday, December 11, 2004:
The beard contest is over, as it has been for some time. Though the official results are not in yet, the winner, by popular vote, was Paul Herbig. Paul's comments can be read here. Results coming soon.
